Network Aggregation Beta

January 2nd, 2012
Comments Off

We are testing our latest IPv4 Network Aggregation scripts and would like to have your help.

The current beta scripts aggregate networks in IP Range and PG2 format and will be available for testing the next several days.

Both scripts allow you to select from a list of nearly 250 countries (also includes bogon IPs) and aggregate the result. In some cases aggregation can reduce the size of your ACLs by nearly 90%. As an example, as of 1/2/2012 there are 46,805 IPv4 networks in the USA and Canada. Aggregating these will consolidate the result to 4,767 networks.

Here are the locations of the beta versions:

PG2 Format: http://www.countryipblocks.net/country_pg2_aggregate.php

IP Range Format: http://www.countryipblocks.net/country_range_aggregate.php

These and other scripts will become available to our members in the near future.

Please do us a favor and test these scripts and let us know how well they perform. Post your thoughts on the message board or contact us at connecting@countryipblocks.net

Aggregating US and Canadian Networks

November 30th, 2011

Canada and the United States comprise nearly 50,000 networks and 1.7 billion public IP addresses. Aggregation of these networks will substantially reduce the size of your Access Control Lists.

As of today, November 30, 2011, through network aggregation, joining contiguous networks in the United States and Canada, we can reduce the size of this ACL by approximately 90%, down to 4,750 network range blocks.

Aggregation lessens the strain on your hardware and software resources.

As a courtesy we are including the aggregation of United States and Canadian IPv4 networks (in network range format) below.

Antarctica Network Ranges

For the last several years we have not segregated Antarctica network ranges in our Country IP Database. We had decided that since the amount of IP addresses involved was negligible and because all of the Antarctica IPs and networks were nested within larger blocks assigned to the European Union, Netherlands, Switzerland and the United States, it would be better to keep them as part of the larger network blocks.

However, several of you have requested we provide information on these lists, so here they are:
